I started working on a 1000-piece puzzle recently.
I enjoy the almost meditative act of working on puzzles, but it’s hard in the beginning. There are so many pieces, and it’s just a mass of colors and shapes with no order.
I approach any puzzle by building the edges, allowing me to create some focus and boundaries.
Once I have that focus I can start to build the rest of the puzzle bit by bit.
Soon the picture becomes more clear, and when it’s done it’s hard to remember the challenge of getting started.
The act of putting together a puzzle is similar to other “puzzles” we may encounter in life: Get started no matter how challenging or chaotic things may seem, create some boundaries and focus, and keep going until you can see the final “picture”.
