Personal Legend
"The mastery of human existence lies not in just staying live, but in finding something to live for."
This weekend I finished reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. It’s a book I’ve started and stopped many times over the years, but it was great to finally complete it.
On the surface, it’s a short read about the adventures of the boy.
But this book didn’t become beloved by so many because of a simple story.
It is packed with powerful lessons for life, like the connection we all have to each other and the world, the meaning of life, and remembering to keep seeking our own personal legend.
If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it. There are so many quotes I could reference, but I’ll share this one for now:
“What’s the world’s greatest lie?” the boy asked, completely surprised.
“It is this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.”
