Get out of the way
"Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others." - John Maxwell
I had a leader in the past that used to say he always hired people who were smarter than he was. It was a compliment to his team, but a reminder that we only get better when we welcome outstanding people, who bring different strengths and are smarter or skilled at different things than we are. This is a big part of inclusion.
However, it makes no sense to surround yourself with great people, and then block them from being able to contribute.
As leaders, we need to attract top talent and then get out of the way!
